promise i'll be kind.

things i have learned recently:
  1. "free candy floss" and "if you give singa a hug" should not belong in the same sentence.
  2. lady gaga's "poker face" attracts customers, for some strange reason or another. it's almost freaky the way people stream in the minute the song starts. actually, most of lady gaga's songs have that effect.
  3. lady gaga's "paparazzi" is my song for edison chen -- "i'm your biggest fan, i'll follow you until you love me". okay if he actually reads this (don't dash my fangirl hopes there IS a miniscule possibility of this happening) he's going to be so freaked out. i don't really mean that. the "follow you" part. the biggest fan bit is true though. (:
  4. the staff at the shop are all in love with this male model for burberry the beat for men. his name is alex pettyfer. but i think the curly-haired model is good-looking too. he's called george craig, which quite unfortunately sounds like an old man's name.
  5. speaking of burberry the beat for men, i figure it's quite an acquired smell. it's now one of my favourite fragrances in the shop.
  6. the suntec branch has a lot of funny flying insects recently. they're big, too. like when you swat at them you actually feel something hitting your fingers. that means they're quite big, right?
  7. wedges actually look very nice. this is the doing of lydia and estrina, who wear really nice wedges either to work or when they come visit. i think i shall go search for a nice pair of wedges soon.
  8. adding on to that, i want to get more leggings. either the step-on kind or the ones that cover the feet.
  9. and the shoes i see so often in korean shoe sprees nowadays. i think they're called booties, but that sounds horribly wrong.
  10. the punch card machine at suntec has a love/hate relationship with me. whenever i punch my card in/out it prints the time halfway between the rows. after i complained a whole lot to estrina it decided to be nice to me and punched the time perfectly when we punched out for the night.
  11. tomorrow is free cone day at ben&jerry's and thanks to murphy i am working at suntec and not at cathay where a ben&jerry's sits just two levels up.

i am not kidding when i say they are good-looking. the top one is george craig and the bottom one is alex pettyfer.

and this is what i'm leaving behind after my last day at suntec for the month.

at least at cathay we have the video on endless repeat. and there's a small small display for us to look at. so it's not all that bad i think.

estrina told me today about an edison chen prank where he posed as a wax figurine in the wax museum, then suddenly scared people, but i can't find a video of it!! ):

can't read my poker face.

had some kind of food poisoning/stomach flu bout the past two days. felt really awful!! missed out on a lot of stuff. missed the photo-shoot with yimean, rachel and ale, missed my first elementary two japanese lessons, and missed work on thursday as well. and i felt really bad because i told mr tan really late the previous day so he didn't have time to arrange for anyone else to work with belinda. and boonwei called on the first day of my being sick, which was when i felt really bad and couldn't get out of bed and i think i scared him when i answered the phone sounding very strange, because he kept apologising for calling and smsed later to tell me to take care haha. it was just a rather... unfortunate moment to call. and i was so woozy i just answered as well, even though i really should have just called back after that.

anyway, i'm very much better now. met up with sam today to get xbox games courtesy of peiyen. and we so coincidentally bumped into rab! really. i would never intentionally ask rab out. really. and we spontaneously decided to go watch sniper, so i ended up watching it a second time! and edison chen was just as good-looking as ever even though rab and sam may beg to differ. sighhhhhhhhhhh... and, this time round, there weren't any big heads blocking my view! so i had a wonderful, wonderful view of edison chen.

sniper tickets! with sam in the background looking extremely excited. must be at the prospect of seeing edison chen in a while.

rab getting fooooooood.

after the movie we walked around and saw very random machines at the arcade. so here's sam and rab being retarded! ahem. i wasn't being retarded along with them. really. *destroys evidence*

wonder what sam is staring at so intently. maybe she sees pochama??

wynne! we missed you today. i hope we get more off days in common in may. ):

... and i can't believe i'm actually watching paris hilton's my new bff now. for some strange reason, having cable tv just means having less to watch.

and i say too much. stop me, next time i do that verbal vomit thing again.

okay, i'm going back to daydreaming about edison chen and that amazing scene.

no. 5, locked.

sigh.

went with ming shuan and liyun to catch sniper today. okay, actually i kind of made them watch it with me. and it was good! i really liked the show. i'm not biased towards it just because edison chen was in it, although he did play a major major role in my liking the film so much. but i loved his character, even though it wasn't exactly very developed. none of the characters were very much developed, actually. but his character in the film is so reminiscent of his real life persona, and it's amazing how well he carries his cockiness and arrogance.

there was this one part i really loved. no worries, it's not much of a spoiler. but in case you're an edison chen fan i won't spoil the moment for you. highlight it if you want to see how awesomely cool he was haha.

so there's the sniper team being ordered to go to their respective positions by richie yen, who refuses to send edison chen in because he used a method of sniping richie yen didn't agree with (said method also happens to have been learnt from richie yen's rival huang xiao ming). so the four teams of two people each (one sniper and one spotter) go around the building to try and kill the criminal who has taken a bunch of people hostage. and richie yen is directing them from inside a police van. and edison chen is leaning (in a very cool manner, might i add) against the van, listening to richie yen's instructions and the responses from the four teams through his earpiece.

richie yen: yi qiang bi ming! (something like shoot to kill or something)
sniper 1: no.1 team, can't get a clear shot.

sniper 2: no.2 team, not confident of hitting the criminal's head.

sniper 3 and sniper 4 both say something along the same lines.

richie yen is getting nervous because the criminal is bashing a hostage's head in when suddenly...

edison chen: no.5, locked.

you know, you would think i've learned my lesson about narrating something because it never sounds as cool or as funny as i want it to be.

but take my word for it, it was an awesome scene!!

i completely don't mind watching it a second time. or a third time. does anyone need someone to go and watch the film with them??

the only thing that was bad about the movie was the guy sitting in front of me. first, he was sitting in my seat because he got the row wrong. and then, as if he was determined to ruin the movie for me, he sat up rigidly straight throughout the entire movie, and he was kind of tall so in the end this was what i was watching the entire time.

thank goodness they did loads of nice not too close-up shots of edison chen so he wasn't blocked by the big head at all. and nobody is to laugh at my stupid drawing. nobody. and ironically enough, there was a character in the film called big head. at least, i think that was what the english translation of his name was, because most of the time the real big head blocked the subtitles.

i am definitely getting the dvd when it comes out. i hope it comes out soon. and i really think i want to watch it a second time, if only so i can pay more attention to the plot this time round instead of uhh... getting distracted.

and the special effects were pretty cool. like when huang xiao ming shot richie yen's leg and it blew off (highlight for spoiler), you could totally see that bit flying off and all the splatter.

sigh. okay, highlight of the day week month, edison chen.

and boonwei the wonderful got me this huge print-out of a scanlation featuring ikuta toma! haha thank you so much boonwei i'm still trying to find the most prominent place i can put it up so i can stare at it every few seconds and smile stupidly. speaking of which, thanks for coming down to visit you guys! haha. and dawn had on this shirt with this amazingly cute bunny face on it. it just makes you think "ooh, bunny!" and feel warm and fuzzy all over. and boonwei bought ralph lauren romance silver from me! thanks so much boonwei haha. i hope it was wrapped up properly.

oh what else do i want to talk about. ah, there was the going to tampines one to visit yimean, and the play thing at sam's church. but i'm a little tired to blog about all that now. plus i have pictures to upload and i don't have the cable with me now, and i'm too lazy to go get it.

work tomorrow. shall have to sleep early else i'll be awfully tired during work again. i think i'll read through the btt book again just in case. and i'll bring my japanese stuff so i can revise before the start of the elementary two course. i hope the teacher's nice! i've never met this teacher before, and it isn't one of the nice female senseis we had for our elementary one course. i'm a little bummed over that, because i really liked them and the way they taught us. so i'm just hoping this teacher will be as good as them. i'm looking forward to starting japanese again.

we're one mistake from being together

lots of funny things during work. like that day when 2 british tourists came in.

*cd starts playing shayne ward's if that's okay with you, which, unfortunately, has the radio dj speaking at the end of it because i forgot to make sure it was a clean version*
radio dj: and that was shayne war- *gets cut off*
british tourists both turn to look at the speakers.
british guy 1: was that the radio?
british guy 2: yeah think it was. unless it was downloaded... *proceeds to stare suspiciously at me*

mental note to self, must get a new cd for the shop so nobody else suspects me of being a music pirate.

got my pay on the 5th! it's a whopping $900, but i've spent so much these few days it's pretty much dwindled away to maybe around $600 now. from next month on, after i get my pay and bank it in, i'll make sure my posb balance never dips below $1000. i figure, the way i spend money will deplete my bank account within a week if my mum doesn't still give me a weekly allowance. i'm going to try and save at least $10 out of the $50 she gives me weekly. if i only eat a snack for lunch or eat at home, then i'll spend at most $8 a day on food. mostly i only work 5 days a week, so it's pretty achievable i think.

ah okay, i'm going to stop discussing my financial plans for the future.

went out with my mum, dad and younger sister to catch departures yesterday! it's quite a good show, i think. just... prepare tissues, especially if you have real-life experiences to be reminded of.

and i went out shopping with my mum today, and spent close to $200. see what i mean about my spending habits? sigh.

this is a very happy week, because i'm only working 2 days for this week. but i worked 6 days in a row last week!! i'm so entitled to my break.

and zzz at weird people who are soooooo self-centred.

look before you leap, dummy.

i can't believe how screwed up i am!!

all along, i'd thought that the closing date for application for usp was 2nd april. so when i scrolled down the page and saw that the date was something other than a 2 something, i immediately panicked and did up my key qualities, leadership positions, achievements and cca write-ups in all of three minutes. after i pressed "submit"...

"the closing date for submission is Monday, 6 April 2009."

i could have whacked my head against the table about a thousand times then and there. now my key qualities is a short, shoddy write-up, my leadership positions and achievements are pretty much blank and lack substance, plus the cca documents i had to attach were... okay i think at least that part is alright. but still...

i'm forever going to regret mistaking the deadline for submission, because i'm going to keep on thinking over what i could have refined in my application to improve my chances of being shortlisted. unless of course, i do get shortlisted by some miracle or another.

oh please let happy endings happen.

and now that most of the things i wanted to apply for are either closed or already applied for, i think i'm finally breathing easier. until i remind myself that i still have to wait for the acceptance letters and for me to (hopefully!) get shortlisted for interviews.

today, a very nice guy bought close to $600 worth of lab series products from me. even though he was decked out in LV from top to toe and probably could afford to buy over the entire shop, i felt so horrible for his spending so much i couldn't bear to push any products any longer. seriously, he trusted my words so much when i didn't even know if what i was saying was true or not. and this isn't the first time he's spent so much either; i served him in my first week of working and he bought $400 worth of lab series products that time. his lavishness is almost beyond belief. all i said was "sir, we also have instant moisture masks available, would you like to try them?" and he bought not one, but two boxes of the masks when all i'd intended for him to get was one sheet that cost $13.90. each box costs $65.70 by the way.

... this is why i'm a bad sales promoter.
